More Than Rewards: What Awardco Taught Me About Great Workplaces
When people ask what Awardco does, the simplest answer is this: they help companies recognize their employees.
That might sound straightforward, but anyone who has worked in a job where their efforts went unnoticed knows how powerful recognition can be. Awardco builds software that helps companies celebrate achievements, reward great work, recognize milestones, and create cultures where employees feel valued. Instead of appreciation being an occasional "good job" in a meeting, they help organizations make recognition part of everyday work. Their platform is used by companies around the world to reward employees, celebrate wins, and create stronger workplace cultures.
What stood out to me most wasn't just the product—it was the philosophy behind it. Awardco's mission is centered around recognizing the good, rewarding great work, and helping organizations build positive cultures where people can thrive. That idea isn't just marketing copy. It's a mindset that influences how the company operates and how people treat one another.
Over the last two years, I've had the opportunity to experience that culture firsthand, and I'm incredibly grateful for it.
Awardco changed my expectations of what it means to be treated well as an employee. The managers I worked with didn't just expect great work—they actively helped people become better. There was a level of trust, support, and accountability that pushed me to grow in ways I hadn't experienced before. The standard of work was incredibly high, and everyone was encouraged to bring their best ideas forward. At the same time, there was always someone cheering you on, willing to help, and genuinely invested in your success.
What I'll remember most isn't the projects or accomplishments, though there were plenty of those. It's the people. The kindness, encouragement, and belief others had in me left a lasting impression. Working alongside talented individuals who cared deeply about their craft and about one another reshaped my understanding of what a workplace can be.
I'll always be grateful for my time at Awardco and for every kind human I had the chance to meet there.
